It Ends in Heaven or Hell

He was so honest
When we first met.
He sent a message saying:
“She wonders about my shell.
Does she not know
It ends in heaven or hell?
Would the fire in my eyes,
My feelings, or cries,
Be any different
If my looks were but lies?
Send her a message
From angels in passage,
Announcing a prince
From her tribe.”
The reader may wonder how it ended,
If the angels truly stayed.
But in a single, sudden heartbeat,
The beautiful illusion decayed.
No warning came before the fracture,
No fading twilight, slow and deep—
The prince vanished in an instant,
And the heaven plunged to hell, in one swift leap.
