Crying On The Ashes

One day, years ago

You promised me that

You would be faithful to me

But you betrayed me

You promised me that

You would always remember me

But you forgot me

I lived after you

Hiding my tears

Suppressing my groans

And one day, I gathered

All the things that

Reminded me of you

And set them on fire

Then I sat crying on the ashes

My heart burning with regret

For the memories that

The flames burned

And I felt angry at myself which

Has not gotten over you

Despite the passage of time

      Ustaz Chuckster, thank you so much for your precious comment, thinking that some kind of cherished memories can be erased from your mind by burning the belongings that reminds you of them isn’t true, ’cause then you’ll discover that you burned your own heart when you burned valuable souvenirs and items that you cannot regain, you’ll find that you made a mistake that cannot be fixed and all you can do is cry on their ashes maybe for the rest of your life!. It’s a difficult situation, when it’s painful to keep some belongings and more painful when you get rid of them!!.
